The do as I say crowd is at it again. One of the candidates was up in arms because his opponent campaigned at the dump, and as a Selectman he made sure the
person, a town employee, stood out by the gate, not on town property, to hand out flyers.
Go to the dump now, and there is an out of stater, not a resident of Waterboro, collecting signatures for a religious issue in Maine. And she is parking
inside the dump area, standing near the hopper. And making money doing this. They get paid per signature. At the very least she should split the money 50/50,
don't you think? The reaction from the now Ex-Selectman? Oh, he is thinking town employees shouldn't be talking about such things while working.
Course, he also thinks they shouldn't be allowed to campaign at a town dump. We need a consistent written policy covering all residents when they
campaign. And non residents should be stuck outside the dump area. Everyone else needs to buy a sticker to get in. They don't ?
Then there is the ever popular pay for bag trick. There is serious talk about Waterboro having a new pay for trash system, a
sticker system, where you get so many a year, and pay for anything over that amount. Course, this isn't pay for trash, eh ? Course it is, just a little but
more moderate, and well needed in the current economic crunch. But, in a town where they cannot figure out recycling numbers it does seem a little silly.
Maybe it will be a campaign issue for someone running for reelection. LOL
